Why I do
this work.

I’m Will Killin. I help you understand whether an important decision is supported and what needs further scrutiny. My background spans assurance, audit, portfolio recovery, investigations and expert witness work.

Where scrutiny
makes a difference.

I have investigated situations where the account given to leaders did not fully explain what was happening, or the evidence fell short of the claims being made.

In one programme, the supplier and client had different definitions of success. In another, confidence rested on assumptions that had not been adequately tested. A deteriorating relationship can also stop people recognising a problem they need to solve together.

I use that experience to help you test the case for a decision, understand the consequences and work through what needs to change.

See the approach in practice

How I work.

We agree the outcome you need and the decision in front of you. I ask why you favour the current approach and what would have to be true for it to work.

I examine the evidence behind the important claims and consider other explanations. I explain what is established, what is assumed and where uncertainty affects the decision. I ask difficult questions directly and treat the people involved with respect.

You should be able to test my recommendations too. I explain the reasoning and its limits, including what would change my view, so you can judge the recommendation for yourself.

The name

Why Unasinous?

Unasinous describes what happens when management by committee gives way to groupthink. Confidence goes untested and people fail to recognise what they do not know. Agreement becomes a reason to stop questioning.

Capable, conscientious people can share a mistaken assumption. Organisational pressures and established ways of working can make it hard to question the accepted view.

I believe leaders have a responsibility to invite that scrutiny.
